Join us for a wonderful afternoon of Native American culture, education,
and fun. “Coming Together,” a day of sharing aspects of local Native
American culture, will take place Saturday, November 7, from noon to 4
p.m. at the Turners Falls High School, 222 Turnpike Road, Montague, MA.
The event is free and all are welcome.
The schedule will include a performance by Native American drum group
Urban Thunder. Urban Thunder is an inter-tribal drum group from the Boston
area. Native American dancers performing a variety of dances will also be
featured. Attendees will be invited to participate in dances and judging
of the dancers. There will also be Native American crafts, informational
booths, and more.
Doug Harris, Preservationist for Ceremonial Landscapes for the
Narragansett Indian Tribe will speak about the preservation of sacred
Native sites and culture at 3 p.m.
The workshop is presented by the local non-profit Friends of
Wissatinnewag, Inc.. The Friends of Wissatinnewag’s mission is research,
cultural and historical education, and the preservation of Native American
sacred sites.
The workshop is funded by the Turners Falls River Culture and sponsored by
Turners Falls High School.
